Question,

My wife was pinched back in November for exceeding the speed limit. She has been given the option of taking defensive driving to dismiss the ticket. This is my question(s):

Does anyone here have experience with online courses?

How do you tell the difference between them? For example one is $39 and another is $30 why?

Does anyone here have any courses that they would recommend?

Thanks for the help.

First step:  Before considering any of the online courses (never heard of this myself), make sure that whatever sort of certificate they are giving you is something your state DMV will accept.

$30 or $39 doesn't matter if neither one is acceptable to your state.

I took one when I got busted doing 51 in a 35 construction zone. It's VERY easy and not mind numbing. Just find out which ones are state approved and go with them.

I took one of those online courses. They are 4 hour courses. meaning they take 4 hours. even if you skip thru all the material and take the tests, they wont let you proceed til the alloted time. I jus got up and did other things and then came back. On the ticket, it should tell you what schools they honor. or check the states website or something.

I just had to do this New Years weekend. I took defensive driving at a classroom in Mesquite. Make sure the court will accept online courses. The county I got my ticket in required six hours of classroom courses and online wasn't acceptable. The class itself wasn't that bad, was boring in some parts and interesting in some parts as well.

Thanks for all of the replies. She checked with the court and they do accept online courses in their jurisdiction.

She found an approved list of online companies on the TEA website. Does any one have TX experience with online companies?
