I was cleaning the kitchen earlier and came across some metal twirly thing in the sink.  I just put it in the silverware rack of the dishwasher, finished loading it and then ran it.

My husband just got up, went into the kitchen and said, "Where's that gas tube?"

"What?"

"The gas tube I had on the counter.  Where is it?"

"Ummmmmm, that twisty metal thing?"

"Yes.........."

"It was in the sink so I put it in the dishwasher."

"Did I ruin it?"

"I don't think so."

"Good.  Can I go post about it?"

Actually you would be surprised at how many gun or car parts your husband runs through the dishwasher without your knowledge.

Yeah, I'm glad he didn't really get upset considering how many gun parts have been baked in my oven and stunk up the house.

Well, was it "twirly" or "twisty?"

The wife and I have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy about that kind of thing.  She doesn't care about it as long as she doesn't know about it.

I pop the parts in the oven after midnight after setting a box fan in the window.  As soon as they are removed I start the oven "clean" cycle.  It completely rids the oven of any smell.  In the morning I wipe the ash out of the oven.  She knows I've been doing something in there, but she's smart enough not to ask.

Sort of like that but with an extra loop-de-loop or two.

You're really being a stickler for accuracy with someone who ran a gas tube through a dishwasher?

I didn't know what it was but it was in the sink with dirty dishes so into the dishwasher it went!

He actually got an old oven someone was getting rid of during a remodel and he keeps it outside to bake the parts in now.  I can't stand that smell.

I think that's a better compromise than don't ask, don't tell!

I believe it is a rifle length tube that is shortened with loops, yes loops, to work in a pistol, actually pistol length sbr (PDW).  A buddy gave it to me to try to help fix what seems to be a bit of overgas problem.  I set it on the counter after work and when I went to get it to put it up...

It was very shiny and very hot.

Aren't gun parts supposed to be clean?

I'm so glad you clarified although I'm thinking some HERE may have stuck it in the dishwasher too without recognizing it.

Yes, and that reminds me, I have a couple handguns that could use a good cleaning.  Should I just slip them into the sink or go ahead and put them in the dishwaher?

No sammich.  Papa John's.  I ran into issues and wasn't able to hit the grocery store yesterday.

She is about to head to the store (multi car accident yesterday on bridge, not her) so I will see if the cascade will do it and and leave a spot free shine.

And yes, there are probably a lot of things that "come clean" in the dishwasher.

If there can be any sort of vindication for myself I hope it comes now:

Does *twisty* and *twirley* make more sense now?

By the way, the gas block shown was not on there when I washed the tube.  If it had been, I'd have at least asked about it before sticking it in the dishwasher.
