Brothers and Sisters,
What is your agencies policy on securing duty weapons in your POVs?
Check out this unfortunate story that happened in my beat: SWAT officer's rifle stolen
What say you?

Would a GPS tracker (maybe sewn in the case) be a practical option?
Should the SWAT officer have an alarm of some type on his POV?
Should we have lock boxes/safes in our POVs?
Other ideas?

Folks, Let's make sure our weapons are properly secured at home and in our vehicles.
Thanks

Lock box or leave that bitch in the safe.

My issued and NFA weapons don't even stay in the trunk of the patrol car when I'm off shift. Had a co-worker living up the street at my last department, had his Benelli, level IV vest and helmet stolen from the trunk, and it was secured with a chain and padlock.

Must be secured in a locked compartment, i.e. glove box or trunk.  I generally don't do that.

We cannot leave weapons in our vehicle. We would be looking at serious time off without pay for this infraction
