I might have been able to put up with an hour of nothing but vistas and panoramas with some decent music. I thought the visuals were spectacular, I didn't pay attention to the story. |

The thing that is so sad is that it could have been so good.
Have the balls to kill off Sully - but not until the blue chick is pregnant. The sacrifice of Sully could be the vehicle for detente between the humans and the Navi. Make the Colonel a more complex, nuanced, morally torn character who is doing a job that he doesn't always enjoy. Have the army split between former .mil guys who are doing what is right (defending the indigenous) and mercs who just want to get paid and don't care. Make the blue chick the leader of the Navi at the end, and Sigourney Weaver lives and becomes leader of the human contingent, after she becomes a full-time Avatar and member of the Navi. Get rid of the idea that the Navi are noble savages - that cliched card has been played out, and more morally ambiguous characters are engaging - look at The Dark Knight if you need examples - shit, Jim Cameron, look at Sarah Connor! And get rid of all the green, liberal, humans are racist, not-so-subtle propaganda. Philosophically conservative films blockbusters make: The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Spiderman, 300. America hates liberal garbage - they'll spend money on it if it has good special effects (Star Wars 1-3), but it'll never be a classic. And this movie could have been a classic. |

I can kind of see origionality in some things. Like the floating islands, the tree, even a very small portion of the storyline.
I didn't see the effects, someone lent me a bootleg copy. At first I thought I would like to see it in the theater but I couldn't subject myself to the propaganda, or whatever you want to call it, again. Plus it was just too dang long, but I don't like anything longer than 2 hours. I'll bet the effects are cool! |

The movie would probably be just as successful with no plot at all. agree 100%. i cam eout thinking it was an ok story that i have seen before (didnt actually make the connection to pocohontus but that analogy was spot on) but thought it was interesting and visually pleasing... and yeah, i'd tap that
