| Does Any body believe that we are the only intelligent beings in the universe. Given that the universe is so big that we are the only living and intelligent beings in the universe is a ludicrous statement. |

The distances are so great to even the closest potential habitable zone/planet of another host star that it probably doesn't matter if we are or not. Unless we can even remotely gain the technology to explore the nearest star to our own sun, which is 4.395 light years away....who knows?
1 light-year=9.458 trillion km=5.878 trillion miles...........................sooooo, we aint getting there to find out any time soon, bruh!

Or...it could be that we have never been alone at any time in our existence, just lack the capabilities to even comprehend what we as humans perceive as "intelligent" and "beings". Maybe we are unique and a complete accident. Maybe civilizations mirroring ours have existed in the distant past, but have long become extinct due to various events in their history. I love thinking about this stuff...i mean what if not enough time has passed yet for another civilization to evolve? It would just plain suck to be alone, and that's my only reason for believing in pluralism. What a bummer it would be!

There are so may thing's in this universe. That to believe that we are the only living and intelligent beings would be a waste for a better word.
God, or what ever you want to believe, put so may beautiful things and mysteries in the universe to keep us mystified for the rest of our existence. |

I seriously doubt there is anything else out there. And if there is, I don't care. They're either too dumb to come here, or smart enough to stay away. Really? That goes against all odds, as there are nearly an infinite # of stars and planets out there, thus there is a near infinite # of chances for life. Pretty shallow to think that earth has the only life, but then again it wasn't that many years ago they thought the earth was flat. |
I heard something about the Hubble telescope was pointed at a seemingly empty spot in space for 11 days....and it found a few billion more stars or something to that effect....mind blowing. If even half of those newly discovered stars have extrasolar planets orbiting them at just the right distance...i say it's pretty good odds that SOMETHING is out there...then again, maybe we don't want to know what that is...lol. I mean, whatever you do don't signal friggin WAR OF THE WORLD type shit to our mudball, please...heh. We do enough damage to ourselves without the help of RAY GUNZ! ......

I think we would be about as interesting to them as ants are to us. We certainly would pose no threat to them. |

I'm certain there is. However, I'll bet that intelligent life on the scale of humanity is rare. With all the myriad multicellular species that have inhabited this planet for a billion or so years, nothing even comes close to humans in terms of intelligence. Also, I believe there is very little chance of contact, especially in my lifetime. This is disappointing to me.
