Can anyone explain to me (or does anyone care) why the NHL Playoffs are on OLN? There is absolutely nothing "outdoor" about hockey. At least cycling (Tour de France) is done outside. While we're at it, why is professional bull riding on OLN for hours on end? We also have the Spotsman Channel, but it seems to be mostly fishing. Our cable company does not offer the Outdoor Channel, which I understand has pretty good programming. OLN seems to be offering fewer and fewer shows dedicated to the shooting sports, or maybe they come on in the wee hours of the morning. There used to be three or four shows dedicated to "guns" on OLN on Friday nights and Saturday mornings...not anymore. I suspect it is related to what I refer to as the pussification of the United States. While I'm ranting, why the hell is poker broadcast on sports networks? Nothing says athletic or outdoorsy more than some greasy mall rats g'd up in attire from the 'hood in a casino. Back to my original question...does anyone even care about hockey anymore? To us who are not fans, it seems that what was at best an obscure sport, died when Gretzky retired. Rant off. Blake |

ESPN was trying to lowball the NHL on thier new contract so the NHL settled by joining the OLN. I bet that OLN gets great ratings with the NHL package. Hockey fans are a small cult, but they are devoted. And I bet ESPN re-signs with the NHL next year. NHL had record ticket sales this year. |
OLN must be listening to you, their name next year will be the Verge! What a lame name! |
Like when TNN changed it's name to Spike! With that name I'd expect more extreme sports and less Outdoors. |
