Issue: Can't delete outlook exchange account on my local Outlook 2013 install.
The situation is I got a new laptop and attempted to set up my work email account (Exchange) on my local install. I never could get outlook to connect to our corporate exchange server (permissions, perosnal computer, not supposed to access company resources on personal machines, etc). Every time Outlook opens it tries to connect to the exchange server. All I want to do is get rid of this account from my Outlook. Outlook doesn't want to let me as it's "copying configuration settings". Outlook seems ot think I'm a dumbass and is trying to protect me, but all I want to do is KILL THIS ACCOUNT on my local computer. How is this done? |

Try creating a bogus POP3 or IMAP account first. Then delete the Exchange. I recall that working for other stubborn Outlook issues in the past. You may have to uninstall Outlook, then in control panel delete the account. Outlook, and other office components often start as services in the background so that's probably what's holding the account open and causing the error. You could also try figuring out what services they are and disabling them. I don't know enough about modern Outlook to help with that.
