Just watched a PBS show about this battle in the Korean war, some brutal fighting against the waves of Chinese. Lots of narration by Veterans that survived the battle, pretty moving to listen to. I always find these shows with Veterans of WWII or the Korean war really emotional for me to listen to these brave mens experiences, I am so awed by what they had to endure and the events they lived thru. The name of the show is called "Hold At All Cost" and it is certainly worth watching. To those men and all that have served you have my utmost respect!

There seem to be quite a few such battles during the Korean War.

Chinese troops crawling over the hills like ants, in the tens of thousands.

They are selling the movie on DVD, they had an ad for it at the end of the show. I did not catch the place selling copies but I would thing the PBS web site might have that info. What was his name?

Bob Hooker

ETA: He's the guy in the preview wearing a yellow shirt telling about going up to OP Harry and how the Chinese kept coming.

When I was a boy, the father of one of my close friends was a Marine Corps combat veteran of the Korean War.

That guy was tough as nails, but he would NOT talk about the war.

My friend's mother assured us that he had seen some very intense and brutal combat there, and we were not to ask him about it.

My neighbor across the road is a Korean war vet...his tale about fending off human wave attacks...at night...in a blizzard...with nowhere to hide except behind your disabled truck...Korea must have just plain sucked!!

My grandfather was in Korea as Capt. of a seaplane tender.  He flew Catalina PBY's in WWII in the Aleutians...

He had a good bit of air time, I really liked listening to him, seems like a great guy. Went by "Hooker" of course, was wounded, grenade I believe. Catch the show on memorial day, it will move you.

He was bayoneted.  Not many guys left Harry without wounds.

By the way, he is a great guy.  A good person to talk with.  I know my son spends quite a bit of time with him.
