I figured the LEOs on this site would have the most experiance with Vehicle Gun Racks so I come to ya'll with a question.

I need an over head gun rack to go in the roof of my truck that will hold my AR-15 with an Aimpoint and a Surefire M910A Vertical Foregrip. Is there such a thing every one I see locks up around were I think my VFG would be or does'nt look like it will fit with my Aimpoint. Oh yea and it needs to lock.

So guys any advice for this Gun Rack Rookie.

ETA: I realize there is another thread going on about racks but I thought this one was pretty case specific.

We are using the TUF-LOC overhead rack they made for the military it works great and looks good doing it.

All of the lock mechanisms can be custom mounted.  They are not welded fast to the rack.  The Santa Cruz "Universal" model is relatively thin and works like a big handcuff.  It comes with mounting flanges or bolt holes in the base (no protruding flanges).

Given the above, I'm not sure what your challenge is?  Did you check the links in that other article?

Yes I did check the links but given I have had no hand on experiance with any of the racks I couldn't really tell if what I was looking at would work. Sorry to intrude into the LEO forum me being a civilian I just didn't really know who to ask.

Check out Big Sky racks. We've used them in our squads for several years now with good results.

I can't vouch for thier theft security, but I can vouch for their security in a vehicle rollover.  870 and bolt rifle stayed put.  Not an extremely violent rollover though.  I don't want to test that one.

It's no intrusion.  There are diagrams on the Santa Cruz site.  Dunno about the others.

Don't worry, we don't bite.

Hard.

We might taze you if ya don't yell "Don't taze me bro!" though.

Honestly though, we welcome interlopers as long as they aren't trolling.

If a rifle is toted in a vehicle in this manor, could it be misconstrued as a concealed weapon?
