I did my first overclocking a couple weekends ago
nothing major just up to 3.0GHz from 2.66 Core 2 Duo E7300 using one of the shuttle cases, it has it's own heatsink/fan that is also the only case fan. the fins on the heatsink are up against the back vent so the fan blows all the warm air from the case out over the sink and immediately out of the case even at 3ghz the fan stays on low most of the time I'm sure some of you have done more, so post your stories |

wow, they still do that? the last time i overclocked something was a AMD 800MHz. a loooooong time ago. i figured nowadays it wasn't really needed. from what I can find it's more popular than ever and many of the better motherboards have all sorts of bios settings to allow it |

I haven't OC'd my i7yet (need to pick up a True HSF), but my Q6600 would get to 4Ghz, stable, on air during the 10F winter. Great chip the Q6600.
I fried a Athlon 1600 once trying for a 400Mhz OC. I was so pissed at myself. I mean, come on, a 350Mhz OC was pretty bad ass, right?
I did the Gold Finger OC on my Athlon 600Mhz to 650 or 700. That was WAY too involved and time consuming. I OC'd my Mac G3 333 to 450 with a pencil. |

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v637/AaronDM4/comp.gif Old C2D e6400 when I bought it my friends were like why? then I showed them they over clock like nobodies business. vcore at stock and air cooled with a tuniq tower120 I bet I could go more but I'm happy with a 1ghz gain. Isn't it nice? I see little kids on HardOCP crying they only got a 1.5GHz OC, and the part must be defective.... WTF? I remember 4MHz CPU's that were 4MHz from birth until death. We live in good times. |

Quoted: As an Engineer at Intel, I am glad to see this forum is full of Intel CPU's (and the newer ones at that). I was afraid this was going to be an AMD fan boy thread. Not that I'm saying anything deragatory about AMD product. Think you can get us all discounts for buying Intel Products ? I used to be a AMD Boy until I gottem my Prescot 3.2 and was able to overclock it to 4.1 Ghz, I was SOLD .. Now i have a E8400 and i cant wait to see what this bad boy can do ..Just need to get my RMA PSU from OCZ ! |
