I found a very nice overhead gunrack for my truck. It holds my truck AR very well and quite secure. As we are riding down the road the AR (or any other rifle) is just a velcro pull away from being put to use. I have a question however. IF,,,,I`m stopped by the police AND an officer walks up to the passenger side of my truck the barrel is essentially pointing right at the officers face or forehead. No round in the chamber but it does have a full mag in it. What the hell happens if the officer sees the rifle? The rack fits VERY close to the head liner hence the rifle is NOT visible from outside the truck unless you purposely look "upward" through the window. Any thoughts?

I'd roll with it as is. Who cares what a cop is going to say its completely legal.

What would you think if you were the lawman?  Where are your or your passenger's hands?  If you think it will be a problem then it probably will.  Just because it legal doesn't mean it is the right thing to do in every instance.  One more thing to consider.  If someone can see it if they purposely look in your windows at any angle, then you are probably going to be minus one AR15 soon.

I'd be more worried about a fucking AR smacking me if I hit a pothole or a rough patch of road.

I considered that. I am comfortable with the accident issue as it is quite well secured.

Seventy pound BOXERDOG is always in the truck with us. Thieves beware.

You have to bend your knees substantially to see upward at an angle that allows you to see it.

ANY officer. We travel A LOT and I am uncomfortable not having a rifle close by.

if you've got room in the mount, you could wrap the gun in a blanket, or maybe tack a piece of cloth hanging down from your roof? Would give you a bit of concealment from people besides just cops, too.

what is legal in the We Violate the Constitution State ????

I've thought about that for a couple years now but can't have a loaded rifle in reach here but that's fine I have my ccw pistol.

I've been looking at the pro guard rack just because of the way it locks but im sure the price is probably double the one in the op.  There are a few other options available. Op I'd just be worried about ease of theft with the velcro (imo)
