PG horror movies my 14 yr old can watch ? (Page 2 of 3)
| Think I've watched Ernest Scared Stupid at least once a year since seventh grade. The Goosebumps movies, as well as House with a Clock in the Walls are on our watch list every year. Wife and daughter really like Hocus Pocus (the original, sequel apparently isn't that great) and Hubie Halloween is a guilty pleasure. IT (the tv miniseries) is also one that will stick with you. |

That is a good one. I think IT has a some cursing but nothing over the top since it was on TV though I haven't watched IT in a long while. Edit- Some other TV series might be good. Are you Afraid of the Dark? (can be hit or miss but there are some really good episodes) Goosebumps TV series (might be too kid-friendly for a 14yo) X-Files Tales from the Darkside Tales from the Crypt The Twilight Zone Buffy (not really scary/horror) |

It Chapter 1 from 2017. It's rated R, but it's too corny to watch as an adult. It's about some kids fighting an evil shape shifting monster that sounds like Scooby Doo when it talks while also having to deal with being bullied by the big kids. Most of the adults are ignorant to everything happening in the town. |

At 14 I was seeing R rated movies alone. Why shelter her from (exaggerated) human behavior? Profanity? She's saying ALL the words whenever you're not around. |

I’m saving a list on DVR myself. Like has been said, Alien and Jaws and Sixth Sense. Which are thrillers more than horror. Ask her what she’s looking for. Explain that thrillers are generally plot focused with violence and gore used to up the ante, where as horror movies are simply about blood and gore, with loose plots just to have purpose. If they’re new to scary movies, maybe start with something that isn’t super scary like Silver Bullet. If they’re kind of a twisted kid, go with Donnie Darko. I never cared for it much myself, I feel “it insists upon itself”. |

First season of Supernatural. It was pretty intense. But don’t blame me if you get hooked and watch all 87 seasons. When my son was 13-14 he kept bugging me to watch The Exorcist. I told him that was a life changing move and I don’t think he’s ready for it. He insisted, and me being the bad parent….i let him. He slept in our bedroom on the floor at the foot of our bed for 2 or 3 nights and then when he went back to his bedroom with his brother, he insisted on sleeping with the lights on for a couple of weeks. |
