I started using Google Chrome about a week ago. Wow, is it ever fast. I really want to like this browser, but since installing it I have encountered a fatal Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) crash/reboot about half a dozen times, always with Chrome running. It is years since I saw the BSOD on a Windows OS, so this really jumps out at me. I'm using a Dell laptop with a plain vanilla set of business applications on Windows XP Pro SP2. I'm convinced that Chrome is the culprit. Has anyone else had this problem ? If so, what hardware/software are you using ? |
| I won't be using Chrome. I believe Google openly admits that they use it to gather data on users. I don't have the details but it makes sense for them. They have web bots crawling the web constantly so why not create a free product for people to use that gives them even more info. I use Mozilla/Firefox and like it. Opera is another great choice. |
My browsing methods have changed over the years. (Not insinuating that anyone here has a problem!) I now assume that no matter where I browse (even running firefox on external drive) that I am being tracked. I know a guy who believes as long as he's alone in the room, no one can see what he's looking at.![]() Edit: To answer the original question, I have gotten the bsod, but it was my own fault. I rebuilt my Lenovo Thinkpad and it comes with Symantec loaded in. I decided to go AVG for now until I browse others. In real time, I tried it without an anti virus or firewall. Stupid, stupid, stupid. |
