I am debating purchasing either the WII or the PS3.
I already have a 360, so I don't know which system would be better for me. The PS3 is going to have mostly the same games as the 360, the only exclusive I want so far is Resistence: The Fall Man. The WII has some interesting looking games, however the main selling point is the control style that the system offers.
It seems to me that the PS3 will be same as the 360, and only the WII would offer something new to me.
But I like getting a blue ray player and Sony has a better history of supporting games that I like than Nintendo.
So I don't know what to do!
Opinions please

I was staying away from consoles untill something totally different came around. I didn't want just better graphics, but a new gameplay that would be different than the PC. The Wii Is my Answer.

I would go with PS3, but wait a while (at least 6 mo.) after it comes out so they can work out all the bugs and recalls with it, cuz i'm sure there will be some... plus their goin for like $3000 on ebay right now, so you'd probly be better off to wait...

PC.

Can the PS3 be controlled with a keyboard and mouse? That would be aswesome.

That is the primary downfall of almost all consoles (Except for one), now there will be more interaction between players and the screen. A Type of Virtual Reality, and that is what the Wii Does.

I say just save your money for the 360 games coming out. For the Wii, I dont see really anything that could be closely related to fun, and I wouldnt want to look like a retard playing the game...and the PS3 is just too expensive and IMO, offers nothing that the 360 doesnt.

Well the decision has been made and the Wii is was my choice.

I must say that after playing it vs. the 360 it is a refreshing change of pace from my console gaming experience.
The pack in game is great, Wii Sports, I didn't even open Zelda for over a day because I had soooo much fun with it.

It is a great system with a very revolutionary idea. I really like it and am happy with my purchase. As time goes on I will probably get the PS3 just because there are some exclusive titles that I really like.

Any way long story short I got it and am VERY happy with it. It has even gotten my game hating wife to play!

Get the PS3 now.  The Wii will not have the ability to play DVD movies intill summer of 2007.  It needs a hardware update inorder to play DVDs, it not just a software issue.  The DVD capable Wii will be about $350.

I heard that the Hardware was there, but just that the software needed to be upgraded from Wii Online. So thats all incorrect then?

Nathan

PS. IMO the ability to watch DVDs is pointless to me, since I already have a good DVD player. I don't wan't to spend an extra $100 bucks for another DVD player.

Why would someone want to play DVDs on a video game console?

WII + $30 DVD player + several games = still cheaper than just the PS3 by its self.

If you already have an XBOX 360 .. .definitely the Wii .... I don't think the PS3 is any better than the Xbox360 ....

I was able to see the P3 in the store and the graphics is something like I have not seen before, truely awesome.
The 360 was not working.
For those who actually seen both, is there a noticable difference in graphics between the two?

No, there is not much difference.  Actually if anything the 360 easily has the best looking games out currently, the PS3 titles out are actually quite unimpressive considering the hype.  Stuff like COD3 that is on both systems is actually inferior on the PS3...  They're just launch titles but considering the hype you would have thought something like Resistance would actually be something special.  You need a HDTV to take true advantage of what either has to offer though, my guess is that was the main thing about the PS3 you played that you noticed if you're not used to seeing a console playing on a HDTV...  Gears of war on a HDTV or LCD monitor (especially a large screen model) is about the best looking game I've seen anywhere by quite a bit, and it's butter freakin smooth at resolutions that would cripple my current computer (which is a decent gaming rig).

The reason I was talking about the Wii and DVD is because the Wii is to be the main box of your TV center.  Instead of having 3 or 4 boxes near your set, the Wii is supposed to do it all.  Only problem is it is not ready to do it all yet.  DVD and DVR are coming later.

I just picked up my Wii yesterday.  My wife hates video games with a passion.  She has played Wii Sports more than I have played all 3 of my Wii games combined.  I was washing the car today and she came out smiling, saying that she beat my bowling score, after practicing for about an hour.  We spent most of yesterday playing Wii Sports.  Totally awesome system.  Now I'm off to play Zelda.
