The boy's PS4 won't physically load the game disk, any owners run into this problem before??

Surfed the web for solutions, and so far we've tried resets, rebuild the data base, and blowing dust out to no avail. How would one proceed next to test whether the drive has failed or if the problem lies elsewhere?

I hear brief sound from the drive that sounds like it may be trying to spin, but nothing that sounds like the loading mechanism.

I'm not sure on the PS4, but drive failures were quite common in the PS3. I can't imagine they changed the drives all that much. If it's under warranty, have Sony fix it. If not, look into replacing the drive. It wasn't hard to do with the PS3, but you did have to reuse the control board.

Yeah, happens to me somewhat frequently.  Power cycling usually gets it going for me though. I only buy digital when I get a game now.  But yeah, it kinda sucks as a Blu-ray player.
