http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-ammunition-ban-20151112-story.html

Backers of the ban say it will help curb the bloodshed of mass shootings by forcing attackers to stop sooner to reload. “The use of these magazines has so often led to tragedy,” Feuer said. “This law will help prevent those horrible events in the future.”

City Councilman Paul Krekorian, a San Fernando Valley politician who championed the new law, urged Angelenos to turn in any ammunition magazines that violate the new law to police stations before the rules go into effect on Nov. 19

The Browning GP-35 was conceived in the 20's, built in the 30's and designed to hold a standard 13 round magazine.  80 years old.  No one seemed to be freaked out about magazine capacity until recently.

Fuck LA and fuck Cali for that matter.  How the hell do you people stand to live there?

Fortunately that insanity is limited to Los Angeles. Those of us down here in San Diego are still enjoying all our second amendment freedoms. Except there are no standard cap mags to buy. Oh and no carry permits. Oh and we have to have bullet buttons on our semi-auto rifles. Oh and we are limited to buying only handguns on an ever shrinking roster. Oh and no SBRs or suppressors here. Well, at least I'm not in Los Angeles.

I carry a couple of ten round ( or 6 or 7) round magazines. If I was a criminal I'd carry a couple of 17 round magazines. If I was a crazy serial killer I'd load a gazillion ten round mags onto body armor or put them in a satchel.

Part of that is due to the Supreme Court under Warren. California used to have measures in place to limit the power of the population centres. For example, our Senate districts were county based. Under that system, Republicans would have real shots at Senate majorities even with today's politics and demographics. Even without a majority, the Democrats would still be a defector or two away from the Republicans getting the upper hand on an issue. Back then it would have obstructed California's leftward movement in terms of the laws. But Reynolds vs. Sims changed all of that and like all States with such things, we had to amend our constitution to make Senate districts population based, making it reflect the Assembly to a large degree.

One thing that sucks about this is that there are cities and unincorporated areas surrounded by L.A. which are of course not subject to its laws. But because you have to go through L.A. to get anywhere else, you cannot legally take your magazines outside of your city or unincorporated neighbourhood. They are stuck in place.

Bold for emphasis. Not many people know about Reynolds v Sims, what it did, or its insidious destructive impact. Illinois might be the best example - you can win statewide elections with a single county. "Democracy" trumps reason, fairness, justice, and liberty.

I say Reynolds v Sims is unconstitutional, and states should nullify it where they can. But not many people think about this issue, or get it.
