The game-changing improvements in Firefox 7.0 surround its memory usage and optimization. Mozilla claims that Firefox 7 reduces memory usage by at least 20 percent, and as much as 50 per cent in some cases, while still delivering improved startup and page-loading times, as well as overall responsiveness.

Wait... didn't 6 come out last month or so?

I haven't used Firefox in quite some time do to issues with it crashing and sucking up tons of RAM. Those of you who are using Firefox 7, how is it treating you so far?

Didn't Firefox 6 only just come out a month or two ago?

Hell, my online-banking website still hasn't moved beyond FF4 compatibility.

I updated from FF6 and saw a 50% reduction in my memory usage.

Before I uninstalled FF6 I was using 500mb of memory, with FF7 installed and the same websites open (10 tabs) it shows 230mb being used.

Startup time was fore sure faster.

Time will tell if the memory useage is better for me or not.

Should I upgrade from FF 3.6 which I'm currently using?

Hopefully somebody at home can give it a try, and give us an AAR on how it performs. Or doesn't.

FF hasn't really given me any problems, though I hear from quite a few that it does with their systems.

The restore option was really fast and i'm seeing a nice size memory reductions also, about 30% with 25 tabs open.

Mozilla moved to a shorter development cycle to get new features out faster to foster adoption of new web standards rather than have long periods of stagnation.

I guess FF7 still isn't an improvement.

Tell that to IT departments that have to verify security and functionality on EVERY iteration of a product. We've stopped authorizing FF since it's too time-consuming to keep up with their dev cycles.

I've had FF use over 1GB of RAM.  I have a habit of never closing it and opening a lot of tabs when researching stuff at work.  I'll have to try 7 because I'm getting close to dumping FF and using something else.

can it be installed along side a previous version without screwing with the previous version?

I prefer not to test new versions of stuff unless I can easily go back to how things were if the new version isn't worth it
