My neighbor just text'd a pic of his new toy.  A panel saw.

I'm not too familiar with this tool.  What can it do that a table saw cannot?

I don't know what he has, but ours has interchangeable heads to switch from router to circular saw. The entry and exit fence are both about 10 or 12 long, so it's much easier for one person to make a bunch of cuts.

Damn, just saw that I went from team to plebe. So much gray.

Rip large panels easily.

Have you ever fought a 3/4" piece of plywood through a table saw?  On a panel saw, the saw moves not the plywood.  You can also crosscut on a panel saw.  A major no-no on a table saw.  I ended up with a torn new pair of jeans and a pair of black balls doing this once to save some time.

We used them when I worked at Lowes.
Very convenient for a single person cutting large pieces of  plywood, as others have mentioned.

A few of the guys I worked with didn't really know how to cut wood. Some of the things they tried to do with that saw

It's not that it does things that a table saw cannot, it's that it makes certain things that are difficult on a table saw incredibly easy.

Even the best cabinet makers have a hard time getting a dead-straight rip on a 4x8 sheet of plywood without assistance on a table saw, but with a panel saw it's easy peezy.
