I had a party on Saturday that included grilling burgers.  I sent out an invitation on Facebook and got 11 confirmed guests, 4 maybes, and the rest didn't reply.  Well, the GF told me that she knew of 3 people who were coming that didn't RSVP, so I'm thinking 16-18 people, max.

So me and the GF go to the grocery store, and every time I pick something up, she thinks I'm getting too much.  I got 12 lbs of meat, "that's way too much."  28 buns "too much."  On down the line.  I even picked up a case of beer for general use, even though I stated the party was BYOB.  I also got soft drinks for everyone.  Keep in mind this is a college party so people aren't expecting much.

I guess I'm just a generous host.  I was raised to make sure all the guests are happy, even if that means you end up with a lot of leftovers.  So yeah... 11 people showed and we ended up with a ton of leftovers.  If I had it to do over, I'd probably make close to the same amount.  I'd rather have too much food than not enough... I guess women don't subscribe to that ideal.

Are you guilty of overplanning for parties?
