Worked at both training tanks there. 94-95 and 03-06 at Flores. You wouldn't recognize the place now. MSOB has a huge compound there. New facilities for ANGLICO and BN Recon. New chow hall and PX. |

Their compound is either side of it with a bridge across it. CP faces Stuart Mesa rd. |

Pedro's is high on that list. Talega.....talk about being out there We had an old Master Sergeant that lived in one of the Quonset huts up by the raid school. I mean the whole hut was furnished as his home. He was with the Reserve Command Support Unit up there and other than 4th LAR I&I he was the only one up there. Nice to be in a tucked away part of base. As a young Marine I actually lived in condemned barracks in San Mateo whic are now torn down. |

Margarita was boring, but I never had it worse than that. Are you kidding. It was great. No one fucked with us the place was built in the 50s and is falling apart. No rock painting or raking. We would often go on long PT runs and go off base. run swim run up to the beach and back. Bunch of the guys in my platoon were extras in the Patrick Swayze film Green Dragon and it is where Heartbreak Ridge was filmed. Good duty. Close to the San Clemente gate and away from Ocean Slime. |

65-late 70's spent my summers in San Luis Rey, right by the Mission.
The restaurants sucked ass, the best Mexican food was out at Mrs. Whelan's ranch. Her workers would cook up some seriously good food. Sadly her ranch is gone and nothing but a bunch of fucking houses. |
