I was listening to him last Friday, the undermining bias was stomach churning "Did the president mislead the American public about the financial and human cost of this war?" I dont know about you, but when I plan for events I dont know the outcome to, I always imagine the worst-case scenario, then ask if I could live with the worst-case scenario, and whether the possible gains would be worth it. This is war. No one in their right minds promises a rose garden or cakewalk. If they have any sense, they're like Churchill and say "This is going to take blood sweat and tears, but it is necessary to do. We have to do it. And we have to win at all costs." Only the most feckless and irresolute make promise they can't keep, pull back when things become risky or painful. Those kinds of people, to Jennings' chagrin, do not occupy the White House or 10 Downing at the moment. |

I only tuned into ABC that Friday because they had the 24 hr coverage in the afternoon, while CBS had NCAA championships (dont have cable in my room, and I was working). But that line was so BS "Did the White House mislead the public?" 3 days into the war and they were ready to declare it a fiasco, a Tet, a disastrous misadventure. They were the same way when we went into Afghanistan in 2001 and 2002. |
