I am looking for a picture of that kid that pretended to be a marine sharp-shooter or ranger or such that actually did an interview or whatever and was caught as a fake. I know thats vague but thats all I can remember.

No it was some white kid who posed with his dads rifle or something. I think he had a maroon beret on IIRC.

I think I know who you are talking about.  It was a white guy, wearing woodlands and the beret I believe.  Standing in front of his house with a civilian hunting rifle.  Boy he got it real bad when they outed him.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hillarity ensues when real mil/sf types get a hold of it

28 year old male who did, indeed serve in the 2d Ranger Battalion during the 1997 – 1999 timeframe. However, not content to serve his country during peacetime, this young man decided to wear awards and decorations he had not earned.

If you look carefully, you will notice that Jeremy appears to be proud of his service. So proud, in fact, that he decided to award himself a couple of small, but very prestigious badges. But let us just review what it is you are looking at:

The Ranger Tab. We took a look at the roster of graduates and discovered that the only man named Ferrante who attended the course, was a John J. Ferrante, who was given a medical drop as a heat casualty.

Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB). An award presented for being in an Infantry unit and coming under fire during a period of time designated by Department of the Army. Only problem is, during the time that he was in the Army, there was no opportunity for him to have earned the CIB (War is Hell – but in peacetime there are no CIBs).

Master Parachute Badge. This award requires that the recipient serve at least 36 months on Airborne status, complete Jumpmaster school and have at least 65 jumps. Again, Ferrante served less than 36 months in 2d Ranger Battalion.

Jeremy has a profile on Myspace, the well known website that explains they have no responsibility to verify the accuracy of the contents that appear on their website. Needless to say, the inaccuray on the website posted by Jeremy was reported by one of the other members of 2d Ranger Battalion. A Ranger who was unwilling to tolerate this misrepresentation.
