Some guy I was talking to claimed they would announce plans for a draft next month. He wouldn’t reveal his source. I am suspicious but I guess if it happened I wouldn’t be in total disbelief. Any thoughts? |
The guy is liberal (AFAIK) and I don't know him well. I think he has anti-Bush sentiments and I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those ploys to inspire fear and dislike of Bush. It could be coming from DU type shit. ETA: As mentioned in the above post.
|
I assumed he meant the government but I don't know. |
|
Tell him you got on a website and confirmed what he's telling you and that people living in his state and his county are on the top of the list... starting with his last name. If he asks you for the web address tell him it's on the same site that gave him his information. If there were going to be a draft you'd hear about it long before it ever came to fruition. Go slap your friend really hard on the side of the head.
|
I guess, TECHNICALLY, if the govt. was anticipating or planning a major two-front war in the forseeable future, NOW would be the time to start drafting people, so that you have trained people ready in time for the main event, and don't need to start drafting them when you need boots on the ground halfway around the world. Purely hypothetical - I agree with everyone else that the guy who told you this is retarded. |
So, what brand of aluminum foil does he use? I hope it's Reynold's Wrap. The generic brands are usually only good for either blocking mind control rays or confusing air to surface missle radar, not both. Reynold's Wrap is the only one I know of that does a good job at both...![]() ![]()

Just a guy I met. My friends have pretty good sources or we call BS on each other. Maybe I should find him and slap him anyway. |
He had the cheap shit. I think it was like a quilt made from gum and candy wrapper foil. |
Damn fool...he's not going to last long once Tom Cruise gives the "go" order for the Borg to invade. |
Who in the government? The military, senior DoD civlians, the National Security Council, others in the Executive Branch, Congress? I find that the conspiracy theorist morons rely on the mysterious "they" and are almost always unable to articulate who "they" is/are. If the person can't nail it down, they are making it up. |
|
Here's what you gotta do. Get a thick sheaf of paper, tell him you have a rebuttal to his argument. Then, drop trou and slap him with your wang, and run away, while shouting "THERE IS NO DRAFT!" He will immediately see the persuasiveness of your argument. [/joke] The draft was proposed by democrats so they could blame Bush for drafting people. Seriously, if you saw the bill, the only people on the list of introducers were democrats. And wasn't the bill struck down? |
|
If he still believes it now, then he's a bleeding moron. Since you can't change that, you might as well have a little fun with him. See if you can get him to think he's actually been drafted, and report to the nearest recruiting center, or move to Canada or something. Can you make up a fake draft notice to send him (unless that's illegal?)? Or tell him that you saw it on the news or something. |
He couldn't define it beyond "they". |
No, any war with North Korea would be over too soon to train draftee troops. The only situation draftee troops would be needed would be if North Korea had WAY more nuclear weapons than we beleve, they used them all, and we lost the entire 2nd Infantry Division and all 30,000 troops in Korea at once. Then we would probably have to resort to a SINGLE draft lotto to grab a bunch of people for two years to plug the gap till regular recruting could make up the deficit. These draftees would probably never see combat, it would take too long to train them, but its the quickest way to plug the gap in the force levels. This scenerio, that someone would use nuclear weapons against us and we would lose a whole army at once, is the only reason why the Selective Service Act still remains law. And even then there is debate both about its value and its legality. |

Here is what you do to a liberal in this situation. "You know some political parties rely on thier constituents ignorance and laziness to further their goals. Thee know that the majority of their supporet base comes from other peoples bias and assumptions borne out of hearsay. Pretty scary eh? Many times time the leaders of that part may start up something and spin it to look like their enemy is behind it. You weouldnt want to follow a party like that will you? I didnt think so. You seem like an intelligent person who digs for the truth. So shy do you think the DEMOCRATS draft will be good for the US?" Then proceed to point out it was the Dims who brought up the draft in the first place. |
Oh please do explain. How come your libbie pals keep saying Bush started it. Why are they so stupid? |
The fvcking liberals originally got rid of the draft because a disapportionate amount of draftees for non-white, and now when the USA military built up the military to what it is today, they want to re-implant the draft, go figure. ![]() The news media is having a slow newsday, so they report all of the BS thinking out louds of their ilk. |
Tell that guy that if they announce a draft next month he can punch you in the face. And if they don't announce a draft next month you get to punch him in the face. You'll never see him again. |
