I'm growing a small patch, 12' by 12'. Rows will be 20" apart and I'm planting 1 foot apart in each row. I'm starting all the corn in little peat pots and I put two to three seeds in each pot and they are all sprouting, 100% germination.

Should I thin them to one plant each pot before transplanting or after I transplant or can I have more than one stalk per spot?

I never thin mine, it's survival of the fittest between each three. What type of corn are you planting? I like the Silver Queen, its very sweet.

That's what I planted too. How does it grow? Do you ever get all three growing to maturity?

ETA: This is my first food garden ever. I'm planting 13 rows, two at a time, a week to ten days apart so that harvest will be staggered. It's going to have canatloupes, watermellon, beans, peppers, and cucumbers.

I built some upside down tomato thingys too.

I've never heard of starting it in a pot but it's normal to put 2-3 seeds together.  Each will produce an ear.
