You are comparing apples to oranges.

I deal with enough of it on the car forums.

3.5 EcoBoost vs 5.0!!!!!!!!111

No, just no, stop it

Put two turbos on a 5.0 and then get back to me when comparing it to a 3.5 EcoBoost

Eta, It's like a 9 vs 45 debate but worse

Eta2, I guess it's fine to compare them, just tired of it, it's like an oil debate, or crab vs efi, it gets nowhere.

So what you're saying is there's no replacement for displacement?

Putting 2 turbos on a 5.0 costs how much? Now YOU are comparing apples to oranges.

Stop comparing two power options for the same vehicle?
Link Posted: 6/16/2018 12:37:58 PM EDT

They are both options in the same truck.  The F150 is the F150, you have two choices of engines when you buy that truck.

What makes that a difficult comparison?  It's the most obvious comparison in the automotive world.

I'm talking about the specifics of engine design, screw the platform comparison for the moment.

Eta, fair enough I guess, perhaps I'm just tired of seeing the comparison

That's the entire purpose for the motor.  To be functional in a platform.  Why would you compare a diesel electric train engine to the ecoboost?  They are completely separate platforms and purposes.

the purpose of the Ecoboost and the 5.0 are the same.  To provide function and performance in the F150.  So, you should compare the two motors to know which one does the job 'best' for the platform.

Same with the mustang and anywhere else they are a valid comparison.

Until you've spent 20k plus everything you do to the 5.0 will also keep the 3.5 ahead of it.  It's only after large sums of money that cubes win.

So is mine but owned by someone else and is now currently a twin turbo ls3 putting down 800hp

and for the record my FD was a beast of unknown magnitude for an RX7. I don't know how I never killed it but it kept going no matter how many drift events or races I did in the car. Granted it wasn't stock so it was a lot more reliable than than the factory motor. 3mm HD apex seals are a must.
