My wife and I volunteered to build a wheelchair path through about 35 feet of woods (occasional pine tree). I need it to be 4'' wide, and easily shoveled off in the winter / swept off in the fall. I'm basically going to just grade the dirt to match the slope. It drops about 2.5 ft over the 35 ft length.

Once I have it all graded, what do I use for the ramp itself?

Here's what I'm thinking so far:

- Weed paper (whatever that black stuff is)

- Gravel

- Treated 2x4's along the edges

- Plywood on the top

Am I way off? I'm supposed to start working on this tomorrow morning, so any input tonight would be a great help.

ETA: I also need it to be as cheap as possible, but I don't want them to have to replace it in a year.

Thanks!

I wouldn't use plywood.

I like THIS idea.

Grade, Gravel, Landscape fabric then the boardwalk out of 2"X6" treated lumber.

You could build the boardwalk in 4'X4' or 4'X8' sections in the garage and lay/stake them down in place.

Thanks for the links. That "staked" idea caught my eye too.

Any other thoughts?

Could lay a brick or concrete paver walkway. Big home centers stock it. Depends on how much $ you got to spend.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll probably go the route of the "boardwalk", unless someone has a better idea.
