Got a cold, typical cold, funky throat feel, then  head full, then oough from drainage.

This is normally when a cold goes away and I start feeling better.

My chest/lungs sound like shit, if I exhale with a bit of force it sounds like the wheezing of a 95 year old smoker.

I feel like there is a bunch of shit in my lungs I need to cough up, but I keep trying and ....nothing, still wheezy

do I gots the pneumonia?

Not sure, there's bacterial and viral pneumonia IIRC.

I think I had viral pneumonia when I was around 6 or 7. I just remember my folks saying that it started out with me getting flu like symptoms, then I was taken to the ER when my temperature rose to 106 or so.

Stayed in that hospital for around a week hooked up to an IV.

ETA: You know though, you should probably see a doctor anyway...

Take a long, hot shower.  Really breathe in the steam.  See if you can hork up some stuff and maybe you'll feel better.

Do you feel like you can take full deep breaths? Completely fill your lungs with air?

Both times I had pneumonia I absolutely could not take full deep breaths. It felt like my lung capacity was cut in half

Had it when I was in the Army.  Put me in the hospital for 2 weeks.  I lost about 15 - 20 lbs in that time.  That was when I was in the best shape of my life.  I shutter to think what it would do to me today.

Had it once.   Laying on my right side i cold feel air bubbling through the fluid in the lung.  NOT FUN!   I have now had the vaccination for it.

I did when I was in middle school.  It wasn't pleasant.  I don't remember an entire week, just vague memories of pain.  I remember laying in bed wanting to take a drink of water and it took me about 30 minutes to work up enough energy to do it.

Don't worry, you will have a solid 3-4 weeks of coughing shit up.  Even after you feel better you will still be coughing.

I had it in January, worst experience ever! Granted I had it in conjunction with the flu, but every time I coughed it felt like I was being punched in the chest. Nice thick brownish mucus being coughed up and just miserable all over. You could have the early on set, I remember my chest was fine for a few days until it started hurting when I coughed. Hit up the doc next chance you get.

The really big bad version you generally get only once,  the lesser versions ('walking pneu') can get every year.  My big one was really bad.  Had the lesser versions at least six times, got so I could recognize it coming on and head it off early with the proper treatment which included two different antibiotics from my MD.

OP, although I've never been diagnosed with Pneumonia, I have experienced precisely what you're going through now. Just walking to the bathroom, felt like a 5 mile run. And the noises that were whistling out of my lungs, sounded like a freakin Exorcism.  I remember it being so difficult to breathe that I couldn't go to sleep, because I couldn't relax enough. Like another poster mentioned, you should inhale some steam. It helps loosen all the phlegm up, and although temporary (basically, once the steam stops, the relief stops), it can offer some reprieve.   Best wishes, not being able to breathe, is for the birds.

Don't screw around with, I had it twice in 6 months and nearly died both times. The doctors wanted to know why I didn't get help until my wife had to call an ambulance both times and both times I told them I didn't think it was that bad.

Waking up on a respirator the 2nd time in the ER gave me the incentive I needed to start going to the doctor before it got so serious. Also, them telling my wife and mother that I had only a 1 in 5 chance of making it through the night gave me another reason to quit screwing around. I can't put them through that any more.

Get your ass to the doctor.

Try to lay with your head down and legs up at about a 45 degree angle.  Then, have someone cup their hands and play the drums on your back.  It can help get some of the crap out.

Boot.

I got walking currently. Generally get it when I have been around  dusty job sites or the dust from latex paint. Catch it early and do antibiotics and it clears up after 4 or 5 weeks.

Besides not being able to breathe the worst is when it first takes hold in your bronchial tubes. You cough and it feels like you're hacking up a sea urchin rolled in ebola flavored oysters.

If you think you have pneumonia, get your neckbearded ass to the hospital. I'm not kidding. The shit killed my mother when she was 36. I had the atypical version, and my life was hell for a couple weeks. I could barely walk without gasping for air of the first few days.

Btw, mom only had it for two weeks before it killed her. I was 5. You got kids? Go to hospital for them.

Yes.

Trouble getting my breath.  Coughing.  Coughed so much/so hard I pulled something in my back.  Coughing made me dizzy/light headed.  Every now and then I'd cough up what looked like about 1/2 cup of liquid stuff.  Filled my plate up one morning at breakfast and sprayed it all over my shirt, pants, steering wheel, dash, etc. in the truck on the way to work the next morning.

Finally went to the doctor who did some tests, told me I had pneumonia, sent me to the drug store with a list of prescriptions and then home for a week and half.  Told me if it wasn't better in a few days, come back to see him.

I had it last year at Halloween. Felt like I had the flu, throwing up, fever, aches cold sweats and major fever. Its probably the worst I ever felt in my life but strangely enough I didn't have a cough or anything and my lungs didn't bother me at all. I had to get a few shots, two IV bags and a bunch of motrin and I was good as new in a few days.

*BINGO*

I had it once while out of town on a job.  When you get to the ER desk and they ask what you are there for, tell them you are having trouble breathing. You will immediately be wheeled to the back, bypassing all the FSA in the lobby.

I have had it five times in my life.

When you get it you will sure as hell know it.  It is much more severe than a flu or bronchitis.

I've had it 3 times.
Always, always make the doctor take an x-ray.
I was so dehydrated the 2nd time I had it, they couldn't hear anything wrong in the ER and told me I was ok.
I requested a x-ray, where they discovered the double pneumonia.
Single pneumonia, you can beat if at home, double pneumonia-you better be in the hospital, it can kill you.

Was in the hospital as a kid for a month with it.  Missed Christmas that year because of it.  Forty-eight years late I came down with it again and almost died from it.  One month hospitalized on IV bags of a then experimental antibiotic called Levequin.  It was a bad enough case that after four days in that hospital bed I woke up and the doctor was telling my wife "We can't do anything else for him at this point.  The pulmonary specialty hospital says they can't do anything more than we're doing.  If he doesn't start responding to the antibiotics soon, we're going to lose him."
