Who makes a tough pocket watch that can take a little punishment? Without breaking the bank!
Thanks. |

One of these might fit the bill:

What watches have you broken in the past?
G-shock is known to be a durable tool watch, but it's on the wrist. Perhaps remove the straps and put that in your pocket? A rolex submariner is very durable with 314L SS, and sapphire crystal would break before it scratches and this watch is worth repairing when it breaks. It's a wristwatch but a very durable one. If you really insist on a pocket watch keep in mind they are uncommon so there isn't a lot on the market. I can't really endorse any pocket watches, but a quick search shows bulova makes them, and they used to be a decent brand. http://www.bulova.com/products/96b249 This one is consistent with the beret and waxed mustache look, but I thought it would be funny enough to share. I'd take one for the novelty but not at that price. http://www.alanfurman.com/shop-page/top-winding-version/ I can think of another upscale option, but I don't know your price range. Cartier and Hermes makes or made travel clocks with alarms. In cartier the 2 I can think of are ballon de bleu, and pasha. After a quick search they may be discontinued. If you're on a short budget Things Remembered makes some $50 pocket watches. |
| My step grandfather always used a pocket watch, he owned a small excavating/trucking/logging business and said working on trucks and excavators just destroyed too many wrist watches so he went to pocket watches and never had another problem. It always seemed like a reasonable solution to me. I don't think he ever used a good one, just Westclox Pocket Ben's. |

Amazon has under $20 pocket watches from China in quartz and wind-ups. Most are cluttered and have thin dials which make them hard to read, but a few are okay. There are also several name brand $100 models but they are probably just nicer cases with a Chinese movement. Upscale there are still high priced German made models and one made in Detroit by Shinola that goes for around $700. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=lp_6358542011_nr_p_36_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A7141123011%2Cn%3A7147441011%2Cn%3A6358539011%2Cn%3A6358542011%2Cp_36%3A2661612011&bbn=6358542011&ie=UTF8&qid=1473224201&rnid=2661611011 |
