I'm sure it's been posted before, but if not....

I don't know the whole story, but from the video it looks like a JBT on a power trip with no restraint in the use of force. Totally excessive. Anyone know all the details?

EDIT:

Yeah we all know more than you.

She was under arrest and ordered time after time to get off the phone and get out of the vehicle.  She refused while under lawful arrest and being given way more chances than I would have given her.

Dumb bitch got what she deserved.

If she refused to get out of the car while under lawful arrest than what else are you going to do?  Regardless of OC, drag her out, or taze her physical force has to be used to affect the arrest.

Did I mention she's a dumb bitch that got what she deserved.

So you think Tasing her was the answer? I'm pretty sure there were ways of arresting people before that handy invention was.... invented.

I'll agree that it was excessive force, but it was also excessive stupidity on the woman's part.  It was just a bad situation all the way around that was caused by the woman.  Also, the officer's sarcastic comments were a bit unprofessional.  I wonder how much worse the guy is when the camer isn't running.z

he could have whipped out a club and beat her ass black and blue if thats what you mean.  but then people would really be complaining.

tasers are a great tool that have no lasting effects in the vast majority of cases.

Physically extracting her would have been much more likely in resulting in injury to her. It would have also been a violation of procedure.  The taser is a less dangerous (and thus preferable) solution when compared to going hands-on.

It amazes me how a person, who is rude to an officer from the first moment they meet, has multiple violations, and swings at an officer, is then considered to have been a victim of excessive force.

As if 5 warnings isn't enough to get out of the vehicle.

uh yeah...  reach into a running vehicle to extract someone who doesn't want to come with you.  good way to get run over and killed over a traffic stop.

taser is a improvement.  in the old days, they would have pulled her out.  and one or both of them would have gotten hurt.   now, she is fine - no injuries, no officers hurt.

The Sgt says something very... contradictory in that article. They "don't get paid to conflict with people". THat's the most assinine thing I've ever heard. They're there to serve and protect... which will invariably lead to conflict with people... seems like that's why they get paid to me!

yes, there are several other options, they're sometimes called "night stick", "billy club" or if you're a cutting edge dept the "ASP Baton".  Trust me, she got off easy with the tazer.

Well, the police may use force to effect arrests, or defend themselves or others. They don't get paid to have wrassling matches with people, or argue with people. Every encounter the police are in an armed encounter by defintion, the police are armed. Wrassling with people is real good, until they wrassle their way onto the officer's gun...............

Let me see what were the options before taser................. smack between the running lights, repeat as neccesary, baton strikes, OC her, physically latch on to part of her pull and twist until she loses her grip on the truck then driver her to the ground, pounce on her...................... yes you are right the Taser is too much. Remember those first options can also be done in combination with one another.

More like, you defend the USA, you don't die for the USA if you can help it.

I think the SGT's (can't put words in his mouth) point was that cops aren't paid to get into fights and take un necessary risks.

Some risk?  yeah.  but cops aren't paid to be plain stupid.   In this case, the subject was under arrest and wouldn't come out of the car - pretty cut and dried, right?  so the cop shouldn't be under any obligation to place himself in danger to affect an arrest.  Just plain stupid - bust a leg, get killed, get crippled, end the life and career of a 26 year old cop over a suspended license?  screw that.

The chick got what she deserved IMO
dragging her out would have most likely resulted in some type of arm injury
he warned her several times then kept his promise(I was laughing my ass off)
any sympathy I might of had for her evaporated when she screamed "you're a racist"

standing on the side of the road isn't the time to pick that fight though, wouldn't you agree?

even if the cop is wrong - when they say one of those secret code words like, "you are under arrest."  Just go.  get a lawyer and clear shit up later.  being that bitch in the video won't help you when you go to court and proclaim your innocence later.

It's a pretty clear cut case of brutality.

I mean, there's this law abideing citizen, merely talking on the phone, quite rightly completely disregarding a LEO's lawful commands.  I mean, really, what right does he have to tell this innocent woman to put the phone down.

Then, he attempts to lay a hand on her first, to get her from the vehicle.  Clearly, this is a JBT move, and, the good citizen resists this unlawful touch!

Then, the JBT has the NERVE to provocitivly warn the citizen of the consequences if she doesn't comply with his instructions.  Clearly, this was just meant to provoke her.

Then, the tazing.

It's a sad, sad day in this country when somone can be tazed by a JBT for somthing as small as resisting arrest.

Somtimes I think people just really need to remove thier heads from thier fifth point of contact.  Stupid cow got what she so richly deserved.

Check that.  She DESERVED to get a mudhole stomped in her ass.
