I haven't seen that in years but it's exactly what I first thought.

When I worked security at a popular club with the college age kids we would go around all night unpopping collars on the frat boys.
It became a thing with some of the regulars for us to straighten their collars at the door for them, some would pop them back up when they got inside but as soon as a floor bouncer, bartender or shotgirl saw it it got straightened again. Couple guys threw bitch fits about that. It was always fun tossing those guys.
But that was like 11 years ago and I didnt realize popped collars was still a thing.
|
| Funny thing is that's pretty common in the UK, but there it's just a practical way to keep pasty, nearly translucent people from getting their neck sunburned. So it doesn't look like summers on the Jersey shore, winters in the Pocconos too-hard-by-half douchery. |

Bouncers (and others) actually took it upon themselves to unpop collars? I am not sure which is more ridiculous. Quoted:

welcome to 15 30 years ago? ![]() People do not give it credence that a fourteen year old boy could pop his collar in the 1980s and have the hoes flock, but it did not seem so strange then, although it did not happen every day. |
