ETA: Don't tell me it looks like soup, it still has to cook for a few hours and will thicken up nice

Official Recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1/2  cup  all-purpose flour

  • 3  tablespoons  chili powder

  • 2  teaspoons  salt

  • 1 1/2  teaspoons  ground cumin

  • 2  pounds  boneless pork loin, cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 2  tablespoons  canola oil

  • 1  large onion, diced

  • 4  garlic cloves, minced

  • 2  (16-oz.) cans kidney beans, undrained

  • 2  (16-oz.) cans whole kernel white corn, drained

  • 2  (10-oz.) cans diced tomatoes and green chiles with lime juice and cilantro, undrained

  • 2  (4.5-oz.) cans chopped green chiles, undrained

Preparation

1. Stir together flour, chili powder, salt and cumin. Reserve 2 Tbsp. flour mixture. Dredge pork in remaining flour mixture.

2. Cook pork in hot oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring often, 8 to 10 minutes or until browned. Add onion and garlic, and sauté 5 minutes.

3. Stir in kidney beans, corn, tomatoes, and chilies, and bring to a boil. Sprinkle with reserved 2 Tbsp. flour mixture, and stir until blended. Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes.

I ended up pan frying the pork quick and then throwing it all in the crock pot. probably going to let it sit on high for a few hours.

will serve with some sour cream and fritos on top.

Just figured I would share.

Beans and corn what the fuck, just because you put chilies  in it  does not make it chili.  I have no fucking idea what that is but that is not chili.

hmm. can't say i've ever tasted pork chili. i'd toss some bacon in there.

i once had a really soupy bowl of chili at a diner in grad forks, nd. i'm not sure if you could really call it chili. seemed more like minestrone. however, you're supposed to crumble the stack of saltines into it and load it with the the bowls of sour cream and cheddar on the side. it's not spicy by far. i asked for some tabasco. they didn't have anything near it on hand. the closest thing was pepper or ketchup. however, it was a hearty lunch.

When did people forget that these things are called stew?

Chili is beef and peppers. When you add a bunch of other crap it stops being chili.

Yes it is.

Traditional versions are made, minimally, from chili peppers, meat, garlic, onions, and cumin, along with chopped or ground beef

well this has pork instead of beef, because its pork chili. it has peppers, garlic, onions and cumin in it.

added is tomatoes and corn. and we all know that beans are required for chili.

doesn't ring a bell. this was about ten years ago. i went there in my father's place for a fraternity reunion. i'm vaguely familiar with the farming areas of fargo/moorhead. going to a ben franklin's was something special. going to west acres blew my mind.

actually Chilli in its purest form should be made from a combo if Venison and Pork with no fillers like beans or corn.
