Can ya think of any airborne questions I can ask this guy???? Jump School is a pretty open book with the internet. No secret questions you could really ask. Could try to ask him his class number. Should be a two digit class number followed by a two digit year designation (mine = 14-84 for example) |

The only Marines that get to go to jump school on a regular basis are Recon, ANGLICO, some riggers/loadmasters/airwing types, and back in the day, some Marines that were on Barracks Duty in Annapolis. Why? The Academy would get slots for the midshipmen, and when they couldn't go, the Marines got to backfill. We had a few Marines actually re-enlist for jump school, but this was back in the 80's.
We did have a former Army 82nd Airborne type in our unit (Weapons Company 1/8). Total POS. His jump status didn't go over too well

Unless he was in both, which is possible. But if he claims just USMC service, having Army wings for his tatoo would be a giveaway. |

Could be a Cherry 0451 or some shit who ran right out and got his basic wings inked on him as soon as graduated Benning. |

Guys in the USN and USMC wear the standard wings until they get 10 jumps. Then they wear the gold wings, IIRC. Im sure one of our local squids or jarheads can confirm. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Is it possible to be in the USMC and also serve in the Airborne? The Corps has some Airborne units. Does he have a tattoo of Army or USMC jump wings? No self-respecting Marine would tattoo Army jump wings on himself if he had the chance to earn USMC jump wings. Just confront him directly and ask to see his military ID card. |

If he's not met the requirements to wear the Navy/Marine Corps Parachute Insignia (gold wings) then he would wear the standard Basic Parachutist Insignia. (5 additional jumps for a total of 10 while serving in a bonafide jump billet for a minimum of 90 days with some specific criteria for the jumps I.e. Combat equipment, night etc.) There's probably more Marines with lead sleds then gold wings. |

Quoted: True. But have you ever seen one with an "Airborne" tattoo?
