Here's a few tips that would have saved me a lot of hassle had I known them when I was starting out:
1. INT is the most important attribute in the game. When starting out, this should be at least 8. 2. Small Guns and Repair are tied for best skills in the game. Max these ASAP. Repair everything. 3. Lincoln's repeating rifle is awesome. Get it from the history museum, love it. The only downside is the scarcity of 44 Mag ammo. If you have "the Pitt" expansion, there's an ammo press that lets you convert unused ammo from one type to another. Once I finished the Pitt, ammo for the repeater was never a concern. Before I did the Pitt, I was able to get ammo from Underworld, Rivet City and Tenpenny Tower. 4. Don't help the ghouls at Tenpenny tower. The ghouls end up killing the ammo vendor. Having the ammo vendor alive is worth more than the prize the gouls give you. Any other tips? |

Fawks is the best ally in the game. Period Another good weapon is Ol' Faithful, found in the safe at the republic of a dave Fawkes is the ony ally that doesn't die all the time. Dogmeat is the worst. Trying to keep dogmeat alive throughout the entire game is frustrating and difficult, and ultimately not worth it. If you get dogmeat (or any ally other than Fawkes), just park him somewhere and move on. |

Xuanlong rifle (unique Chinese Assault rifle) + outcasts (Protector Casdin) ... your ammo worries are over. |

I just got this last week and have been playing the heck out of it.
My biggest tip is to search, search some more, then search again with the Pip-Boy flashlight on. I have found stimpacks and other small items in buildings I have been through several times just by re-searching with the flashlight. Nuka-Grenades rock! |

Get the "educated" perk ASAP. Yep, take at at the absolute first chance. Then take "Comprehension" next. DO NOT TAKE "Swift Learner". It's a complete waste. Actually, now that the level cap is 30, swift learner is kind of nice. The last time I played, I maxed out "swift learner" and was still able to get every useful perk. ETA: this only applies to people who get the most recent DLC, of course. |

Yes. That really was the end of the game. ![]() Make sure you do everything you want to do BEFORE completing the game. You will know the end of the game when you get there. The latest DLC pack will "fix" this. That was my single complaint with the game. WTF were they thinking?

The Goul mask is well worth it. When first starting out collect items that are worth the most but weigh the least. This will help get the most out of trading. And you can always get 300 caps from the lady in the small ranch/shack in Springvale. The hunting rifle is the best gun in the game early on. It's easy to find, ammo is plentiful and sniping is the key to staying alive(unless a Deathclaw our Yuo Guai spots you). You can run away from most other enemies if you have to. |

If you get dogmeat (or any ally other than Fawkes), just park him somewhere and move on. I hit Fawkes with 50 bottle cap mines at about 700 damage each and 8 Mini nukes in very close proximity(inside the Megaton house) and he lost about 1/4 of his health. Funny thing is, you can drop a grenade in his pants(when he's not your follower) and he will die instantly

When you get to it, let Liberty Prime do the fighting for you. Not that you'll need the ammo or health or anything, its just entertaining to listen to him Dont try to run from the Deathclaws. You'll only die tired. Anyone know if theres a way to get Broken Steel and Operation Anchorage on the 360 without a xbox live subscription? |

I got upset when I saw what the ghouls had done to the tower occupants and killed them all.
Oh, and drugs are good. Mkay? Don't be afriad to use them. They're everywhere, the penalty for addiction is trivial (go to a doctor and pay a small fee). |

You should be able to set up a free account. Your Xbox has to be connected to the internet though. You have to buy Microsoft points via credit card and then you can download it. |

I got the Medic Prototype Power Armour. Can't remember where I found it, but, it's DR is like 36 or so. It also talks to you and warns you of bad guys before you see them. It's very cool to have. Old Olney. Nice quite run down city. Not much going on there |
|
Deathclaws are a piece of cake if you use the dart gun.
Your follower's armor does not degrade, I gave Charon that unique power armor and a shishkebab and he destroys everything. The wiki has everything you would ever want to know about Fallout, http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3 |

Here are my tips: 1.) Head north from Megaton to NDPL-13 Power Station. North of that power station is an alien crash site. The site is bathed in radiation but down in the crater you'll find the crashed alien ship and the Alien Blaster plus a number of alien power cells. With the blaster, you need not fear Super Mutant Behemoths. Because the blaster is awesome and worth the trip. Just bring as much ammo and stimpaks as you can afford/scrounge. 2.) As stated, the perks Comprehension, Educated, and Intense Training should be the first perks you select as they become available. DO NOT READ SKILL BOOKS UNTIL YOU HAVE THE COMPREHENSION PERK! Intense Training allows you to increase your SPECIAL attributes and you can use it 10 times, so don't go crazy in the beginning. Scrounger and Fortune Finder should be selected as well to increase the number of caps and ammo you find in containers. 3.) Use chems early on to grant you boosted abilities in a tight spot, but don't depend on them. "Stack" them to combine their benefits. Don't take any one chem too quickly or too often or you'll get addicted. 4.) I would get through the main storyline up to and complete the Waters of Life quest ASAP. Once you complete this quest, the Enclave will have troops spawning all over the Wasteland. With Enclave troops come Enclave Power Armor, Tesla Armor, and plasma weapons. And lots and lots of caps for selling these items. After the Waters of Life quest is complete it's a great time to explore and complete all the side quests available before continuing the story. 5.) A3-21's unique plasma rifle is my go to gun in the game. It uses microfusion cells and is repariable with Enclave plasma rifles. Harkness has it in Rivet City and you must complete the quest The Replicated Man to get it. |

|
When you go into Old Olney's sewers, do not leave or the Medic Armor will disappear.
Lincoln's Repeater is the shit. Get perks that add damage to critical hits and it turns into one shot comic goodness. The Dart Gun is also the shit. The money glitch makes the game about a billion times easier as you don't have to lug around every POS that you find to make money. Start with high INT - like 8 or 9. Megaton is a better house. Energy Weapons are more powerful - other than unique weapons. |

Save your cola quantums for when you get the nuka grenade schematics.
Also, don't be afraid to buy the same schematic again, each time you buy a new schematic it improves the design. If you find all three nuka grenade schematics, you can make 3 nuka grenades at a time with only one set of components. |

Do not venture anywhere ther are Deathclaws without the dartgun.
To find the entrance to the GNR studio go to Super Duper Mart and head west by northwest. Fawkes > Charon > Sydney > Jericho Hit evergreen mills (Terrible Shotgun, Fatman) then Fort Bannister (Fatman, piles of armor) early on as well as the Prime number puzzle in the Tech museum (Xuanlong AK) Use (Kill) the Outcast for Power Armor replenishment for you and followers Buy the Nuka Cola machine it ups food value of liquids My first infirmary is good for getting rid of Rads |
|
Quoted: Do not venture anywhere ther are Deathclaws without the dartgun. I never did build the dart gun. The only time I ever died from a Deathclaw was the first time I ran into one. The trick is to find the Alien Blaster early in the game. After that, nothing was able to touch me. Killing Deathclaws with the Blaster is like killing Rad Roaches with a Combat Shotgun. If you want to be completely unstoppable, go to the Deathclaw Sanctuary and get the Vengance(Upgraded Gatling Laser). You can coast through the rest of the game after that. I walked around with the Hunting Rifle taking sneak shots on everything. If things got crazy, out came the Vengance. If that didn't work then I would transition the the Blaster and it was all over. |

Two things:
1. You can do very bad things and repent by giving caps to the church of Atom or the begger guys fresh water. I always max out my Karma because you never know when you will run into a goody too shoes partner to team up with. 2. I wish more Americans in real life had Liberty Prime's attitude. That is all.

That's what I ended up using too, after my first disastrous visit. I like Deathclaws better when they evaporate. |

My favorite Liberty Prime quote: "COMMUNISM IS THE ULTIMATE FORM OF FAILURE" right before throwing an atom bomb on the enemy. |
