My grandfather is having surgery to remove a tumor from behind his eye tomorrow. The tumor is noncancerous, but has rendered him almost blind and is starting to apply excessive pressure on the brain (which has decreased his cognizance). Hopefully this surgery will go without complications and help restore his vision and mental ability. He served in the Army and fought on the front lines during the Korean War. He introduced me to shooting, and has taken me hunting and fishing many times over the years. I would appreciate your prayers. thanks Sam Update 4-5-07 The surgery went well. The surgeon removed most of the tumor, but left some of it due to the proximity of the optic nerve. He's awake, but still in the ICU. I should be able to go see him this weekend when i'm home from school. Thanks for the prayers. |

Glad he's doing better -- prayers still inbound. FWIW, my dearest cousin (the closest thing to a brother I had growing up) went through the very same thing in recent years. It took two separate surgeries to get it all out, but the tumor is gone and his eyesight is largely back to normal. |
