I'll try to keep it short. I've had a Millet DMS-1 scope for five years. It's windage adjustment came apart. It seems they use the thin metal etched increment placard as a snap ring to hold everything together. Also it seems to not track adjustments properly. I went to the website, sent it in per instructions. The question is, what will I get back? Same scope fixed? New scope? An FU email or nothing at all? Place your bets and I'll let you know!

Old scope gets thrown in the trash, new one gets sent to you. Hope it doesn't have the same problem!

"Since 1984, the majority of our Bushnell sports optics products have been covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Bushnell Outdoor Products guarantees these products to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner.

These warranties do not cover consumer caused damages such as misuse, abuse or repairs attempted by someone other than our authorized technicians."

Sounds like they will repair/replace as long as you have fucked around with it too obviously.

If I get a new one back I will probably sell it for a good price and put the $$ toward that Vortex Strike Eagle. That looks like a nice scope and they are a site sponsor so...
I would also accept pie in return and be happy

Fuck Bushnell and its warranty.

A few years back when the spotting scope with a reticle that they made was getting good reviews yet also had some known issues, I bought one that worked fine for about 2 months. With very light range use (driving to and from) one of the known issues where the glass the reticle was on would rotate with the power adjustment ring happened.

Called Bushnell, got the info to send it in and asked what they would do. They said they had just discontinued this spotter within the last month (great) but they would fix it or replace it if they couldn't. I asked what they would replace it with and the guy said something of similar or greater value but since it was newly discontinued they would still have that model in circulation as they didn't all just disappear.

I sent it in the next day with a note wrapped around the spotter with the RMA number, my address and phone number as well as a note specifically stating that if they can't repair it and cannot replace it with the same model, to stop and call me so we can try and figure something out as I wasn't interested in another model.

A month goes by and a box shows up. I open it and its some total shitty spotter from Bushnell along with a bunch of cheap made in china 'accessories' and other Bushnell bullshit in the box. I figured I got another warranty shipment by mistake until I read the letter inside. It stated that pretty much, sorry, we couldn't fix your spotter and the next model up (which I didn't want) for this was significantly more in value (I checked, at the time the next one up was $250 more) so we sent you this spotter (which was $150 LESS than my original spotter, no reticle, different mag range and was just shit) and other miscellaneous Bushnell garbage we value to make up the difference.

Are you fucking kidding me? I call and get the runaround. Leave messages for whoever the fuck should handle something like this and no one ever calls back. I finally talk to someone and they say, oh, we replaced your warranty claim, everything shows you got your warranty work taken care of..whats the problem? Fuck Bushnell.

The irony here is that the spotter was still for fucking sale, on OpticsPlanet directly from Bushnell as a discontinued item during this time. What I should have done if I wasn't an honest person and wasn't naive enough to think their warranty/people working this were worth a shit and not complete incompetent morons was buy one of the discontinued ones off of OpticsPlanet and returned my shitty broken one for a refund. But no, I wasn't trying to rip anyone off, so fuck Bushnell and their shitty warranty.

I have a Spotter 60 now anyways, so they can blow me.

In contrast I bought a used demo model vortex pst from cameraland  and the illumination was not working. I shipped it in and had it back in a week good as new. Totally painless.

Received a card from Bushnell today stating they received my scope on 10/26/15. it gives me a Lab Repair # and the option to check the status. Says 3-4 weeks turn around. I see Midway has these scopes on sale for cheap now, wonder why

Received a box today with a new Millet DMS-1 optic in it. Packaging is different tan my original but the optic looks the same. It's definitely new, different S/N than the one I sent. Turrets look to be the same construction though so the potential for the same problem exists. Not sure if I should just keep it or sell it. The price has come down a lot from what I paid originally. Kudos to Bushnell/Millet for the new replacement. They could have just gaffed me off. They still go for over two bills so I'm happy to have a new one instead of a broken one. Cost me $10 plus postage.
