You still would get slammed around and sliced up,vest would not help much as the wave hits as the churning water has lots of air in it .After the wave stops crashing and bashing and is only moveing or standing water the vest would help you get to the top.If you are dazed or knocked out you are still toast as most adult vests will not turn you over or get your face out of the water.Huge bulky collar/neckpiece of an "offshore jacket" or an infant vest with collar would help but most people will not wear such a jacket,even less likley in tropical weather |
