My brother sold an item on eBay and received payment through PayPal. Today when he tried to transfer the money it TOOK money from his bank account instead. Any ideas why this happened?

If it was the same amount that he was trying to transfer, it seems he reversed the to/from order. Outside of that, no idea without seeing the details of the transaction.

He needs to be on the phone stat with Paypal, not asking random strangers on a gun site.
JMHO
YMMV

Is that amount now in his paypal account?
First error... using Paypal.
Second error... um... probably between the keyboard and the chair.

Call them, give them the transaction ID #. Identify the mistake.

Tends to be the case more often than not.

Paypal screwed up on me the other day on the regular credit card part. It bounced a transaction and alerted my fraud department. Then it charged me four times. Then none and cancelled the transaction.

Unless he is dying for the money RFN, just wait and pull it all back out.
