I need to prepare for my upcoming promotability oral interview.  It's promoting from Deputy to the rank of Sr. Deputy Sheriff.  I just passed my written exam and have my oral interview in a month.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Only 6 posts in over a year.  Don't have much to say, huh?

Avoid answering "yes" or "no" too many times.  Give full complete responses, but don't monologue.

Good luck!

My advice, try to find out who the board members will be.  Maybe find out what makes them tick; what section(s) of the department do they work?  They may ask questions related to their field or particular area of expertise.

Talk to other persons who have already gone before the board.  Get their insight.

Finally, bone up on policies and procedures.  What current events are influencing activities at your department?  If you are a large department, make sure you know who is in your chain of command.  We have some officers in my department who can't name our director, division chiefs, etc.

Good luck.

Tell 'em if they don't like you, they can stick the promotion up their collective asses!
