Worked hard and kept my head low for 4 months, and it finally paid off!

Promotion from iPhone Tier 1 to Mac CPU Tier 1

Just a message to everyone, keep workin' hard and life will pan out for you in the long run.

I got promoted 4 months ago to Lead Software Engineer after just being a Software Engineer for 3 years.

Worked my ass off and continue to do so, but I didn't keep my head low at all.  In fact I was very vocal about departmental changes and voicing my opinion.  It paid off.

I continue to be a pain in the ass about corporate red tape and inefficenies in the department and team.  Got lots of things changed and working better , while some I'm still working on, but they are slow going.

Congrats though!

Nice, what type of degree do you have?

I try to voice my opinion on things at work that are inefficiencies, but there are so many and I am at the very bottom of the totem pole in my department. One step higher though now, Might have to start voicing those.

My degree is in Computer and Information Technology from Purdue.

I've always been vocal ever since my first job.  I've been promoted in every job i've ever held.  I'm ENTJ, so I naturally take a lead role on everything and have no problems telling it like it is.  I can be very persuasive in getting people to see my view.

As far as pointing out issues, start with small things that can be corrected easily and work your way up the bigger stuff.  If you start with the bigger stuff you'll get frustrated becuase those things take lots of time to change.

Also, just be aware that you  can't expect to complain about things and expect someone else to change them.  If you want them changed the you'll have to develop the change strategy and present it to whomever is in charge of implementing the change.
