Is it a hard "J" or a silent one?  I know the press pronounces the "J", but they are about as smart as my dog (they pronounce "negotiate" as "negosiate" for example).

.....apologies to my dog, Pudge.....

Since I get my news/info from the net (no TV), I started by reading the word and came up with my own pronunciation.  Then after seeing the News vids, they are pronouncing it WRONG!

I pronounce it - "fall - ooo - uhh"

They call everything Al __________. It means "The," and is like El/La in Spanish (eg. La Habana) which is sometimes used before the name of cities, etc...Except, they (Arabs) use it even more frequently than spanish speaking folks. The seem to use it before just about any noun.
