Merge them together and form a purple block, eliminate the left/right, keep the exact bullets, then I'd say it's accurate. |

| I think it would be more accurate to say that lefties support use of eminent domain for public purposes (e.g., neighborhood improvement) rather than public use, which is what the Constitution authorizes. I also think that many on the right/conservatives are suspicious of the Patriot Act and largely ignorant of special treatment of favored corporations. |

Yep, dumbass BS So what specific items does it describe inaccurately and how do you know? You seem quite sure of the inaccuracy. I'd like to know the details that lead you to that opinion. |

Just sayin'. Watch actions. They tell you more than words. |

Actually, the Left is strongly in favor of the Patriot Act now that they can use it to abuse people. And another misconception in that chart is that allowing people and corporations to keep their money is "Welfare". The Left does Not believe in "Separation of Church and State" as much as they believe in State control of the Church. |
|
So, in your world the choice is Neo-Con big government Republican, or Libertarian?
Where do Rand Paul and Ted Cruz fit in to this chart? Last I heard neither of them considered himself a Libertarian, but both claim to be conservative. Just like most liberals, the LP people seem to see everyone who is not exactly like them as radical right wingers. If their chart was accurate, the LP would be challenging Hillery for the next election. But it isn't, and they aren't. I really don't have a problem with most of the L members. We have a lot more in common than we do differences. But trying to relabel us as Neo-Cons isn't helping to bring us together to defeat those who would further limit our freedom. |
|
Everything that alleges to spite the right for, the left imposes harder. You don't think the left imposes morality? You don't think the left is engaged in their brand of nation building in Syria, Libya, etc.? You don't think that the left supported Fast and Furious in their brand of the war on drugs (and guns, and other things their imposed morality deems icky)? You don't think the left is taking actions as or more erosive to privacy and freedom than the Patriot Act? You don't think the left supports taxpayer funding of faith-based charities, so long as the church or temple or mosque is voting for them? And this administration has been the most egregious offender ever in terms of picking winners and losers in the market and giving special treatment to businesses. What you dislike is totalitarianism and rule by fiat. It's neither left nor right. But the left has been seeking it in a much more heavy-handed way, and to put the right and left on equal footing for purposes of a catchy graphic is dishonest. |
| Early on when this libertarian movement started, I thought I was one. After a while I found out that it appears to be more of a gay sympathy, "if it feels good then do it" movement. I'm not a repuclican either because that party has become a sell out. I believe in limited government, but to be free, people must also be responsible and able to police themselves. You've got to have some sort of moral compass or set of values to guide yourself with. |

The 20 Bestest Things About Being A Libertarian: Libertarians believe in... 1) Abolishing the UCMJ. No one in the US military should be ever be charged with desertion, insubordination, disobeying orders or conduct unbecoming an officer. 2) No laws against libel, slander, perjury or conspiracy to commit murder. "Unrestricted freedom of speech" means "unrestricted freedom of speech", right? (or are there reasonable restrictions to "unrestriced" free speech?) 3) No "secrets" in Gov't. Let the whole world know all our military secrets, names and addresses of all overseas intelligence agents and informants, locations of all our submarines, ongoing plans for military actions during war - EVERYTHING should be accessible to the public. Only AFTER it has been proven (in open court) that such information caused military failures or spies to be killed should the person responsible for publishing that information be punished. 4) Allowing sociopaths, children in school, felons, accused murderers and prisoners to carry firearms wherever they want in public or on Gov't property - NO ONE should ever have their RKBA restricted by "any level of Gov't". 5) No laws against driving while intoxicated, stoned or high on drugs. Drunk drivers should only be prosecuted AFTER they kill your family. Drinking a fifth of Jack while driving is your RIGHT. 6) No mandatory taxes of any kind. No income tax, no sales tax, no property tax - NO money should ever be "forcibly" taken from anyone by the Gov't. Gov't and the military should be funded purely on voluntary donations. 7) Allowing you the right to engage in public homosexual bukakke parties anywhere anytime you want. No laws restricting your freedom based on "moral standards". 8) Erasing our National Borders, abolishing the Border Patrol and giving any and all lazy, worthless, AIDS/Hepatitis/TB-infected soon-to-be-criminal social-parasite-scumbag who can make to across our border a full welcome and acceptance into our already over-diseased prison-bloating society. And to ensure that Gov't welfare is eliminated, full amnesty should be granted to the millions of illegal aliens already here - so they can all start voting even more Libertarians into office - to continue cutting out all their welfare benefits. 9) Allowing businesses and individuals to freely dump any and all toxic pollutants into the water, ground and air. NO gov't regulations or standards for water or air quality. Cyanide, lead, arsenic, mercury, sludge, radioactive wastes... they're legally allowed to dump it all anywhere in any amounts. If you're poisoned by toxic wastes - then YOU have to sue the company yourself for damages. 10) Letting the Gov't restrict a business's "free speech" when it comes to advertising. There should be no laws against a company dumping toxic wastes into a river but there should be plenty of laws against a company using "false-advertising". 11) Abolishing all food-quality standards, eliminating the FDA, doing away with public health inspectors and getting rid of restaurant licenses and OSHA regulations. Typhoid Mary was wrongfully penalized by oppressive gov't regulations which restricted her freedom to work in her chosen profession. 12) No limits or restrictions on drug sales or use - even for kids. Let the pushers give away "free samples" to kids at the malls or in schools. Let the junkies roam the streets selling crack, heroin, pot, LSD, XTC, meth and any and all other drugs. Let companies even put drugs into food products and not tell the consumers. No limitations of ANY kind. 13) Legalizing the solicitation, production, sale and distribution of kiddie porn. 14) Legalizing prostitution, yes even "voluntary" child-prostitution. "ALL" laws restricting the voluntary exchange of services regarding human sexuality should be repealed. 15) No laws against insider trading. Enron executives were victims of gov't oppression. The stock market should be more like a craps game with crooked dice. 16) Doing away with requirements that children of all ages attend school and believe instead that kids at any age should be allowed to work at any job and at any pay rate for which they are able to negotiate. 17) Letting all currently institutionalized sociopaths, schizophrenics, demented, senile, insane and severely-retarded psychiatric patients free to roam the streets. NO ONE should ever be involuntarily committed to a pyschiatric instutution. 18) Allowing any and all third-world nations and non-governmental terrorist organizations to acquire and stockpile nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. Our vital national interests end at our border. Only unless and until they begin striking American cities, it's none of our business to interfere in the affairs of any other foreign entity in the world. 19) Allowing accused murderers standing trial to retain "FULL" individual rights including the right to freely travel (even out of the country) and carry a gun even while in custody and into court with them. 20) No public zoning laws or business licenses. Put up a gas station in your garage. Open a brothel/bar/crack-house in your home. Turn your 2-story home in the middle of your subdivision into 5-story apartment and deli. No restrictions. No licenses. If anyone doesn't like living right next to your new poultry farm or lead smelting plant, they can try to take you to court... or move. |

The only thing that graphic would prove is that libertarians are left leaning centrist Republicans. Is that the message you are going for? LOL at the part about Robust National Defense. Libertarians believe in gutting the military, stabbing our allies in the back, and telling the whole world we don't care and won't get involved. When you go from bad ass in the neighborhood to a weak pussy hiding from every fight you are not stronger, you are weaker.

Wow. Establishment Republicans really don't like being called out! List the "Establishment Republicans" to which you refer. Everyone in this thread that hates to admit that they support gov't regulated morality, nation building, the War on Drugs, the Patriot Act (probably won't admit this one), taxes funding faith based charities, and corporate cronyism. |
