A low end analgesic dose of heroin would be about 1mg.
Most people start banging around between 5 and 10 mg.
Tolerance rabidly ensues.
The mean dose is 491.7mg for a Swiss junkie.
2 grams per day (2,000 mgs) is not unheard of for a long-time user.

Not that it's important to the original question, but Vincent bought the "madman" which was $500 a gram.
