How do you pay for firearms you purchased online? I like the safety and convenience of using a credit card but must places charge an extra 3% for doing so and only take a money order or certified check without additional fees. If you do send a money order or certified check in the mail do you send it by certified mail or signature required?

Well for me that extra 3% is usually worth my peace of mind that i get from the added protections of using a credit card.

If I am going to send a money order I usually go the route of using a postal money order and USPS express service with signature required.  That gives me two "uses of the United States Postal Service for any part of the transaction" to make it mail fraud if the item is not received.

Generally speaking any actual business entity has far more to lose from not delivering your items (or refunding your money) than it stands to gain by taking your money and running, the risk is much more working with a private reseller.  The one thing I would avoid is using paypal as their dispute resolution policies leave ALOT to be desired.

Of course that's just my opinion...I could be wrong

Do not ever use Paypal for anything firearm-related.  Other than that, 3% is worth the piece of mind on a smaller firearm purchase from a dealer I've never done business with.

Send a US postal money order with a signed delivery confirmation. Make a photocopy of everything you mail.

Thanks guys.

I think I'll guy with the CC for companies I have never done business with before especially smaller less known ones.  I get cashback rewards on my CC anyway.
