QIDI released their X-Plus 4 printer.
I have an X-Plus 3 and it looks like they addressed several things from it. Now has a larger bed, better chamber heater fan, larger belts, integrated web cam, and a new hotend design. The new hotend looks like it's longer than a volcano hotend, but now using proprietary nozzle not just a shortened V6 volcano nozzle as their current version. In 2025 it will be compatible with their own AMS system. https://qidi3d.com/products/plus4-3d-printer?variant=43379804766348 The All New QIDI PLUS4 - the best value to performance printer on the market |

I have one on order. I plan to exclusively print engineering type filaments like ASA, PA6-CF, PA12-CF, PPA-CF, etc. in it and save my P1S for everything else.

I like to hear what folks here think, as opposed to the reviewers on Youtube

I have heard it is not completely open source. It has a modified version of klipper and installing real Klipper breaks a few things.

Can this print PEEK? And why would one pick this over the P1S or X1C?

Watching some YouTube videos, it sound like we need to update these before we try using them because some bugs have been found. |

Longer melt zone and higher wattage heater for the nozzle. Better nozzle wipe/cleaner process. Heated chamber with insulation on the side panels that help keep the heat in and reduces noise. My P1S is way louder than my XPlus3 and the XPlus4 should be even quieter. |

Similar question why the Plus-4 over the X-Max3? Max 3 has heated chamber and a larger build surface. |

Similar question why the Plus-4 over the X-Max3? Max 3 has heated chamber and a larger build surface. The Plus 4 has a bed sensor to automatically adjust the z offset which the Max3 doesn't. Plus 4 is more refined overall I think with the insulated panels, glass door instead of plastic. The biggest reason will be the Plus4 is compatible with QIDI's AMS system coming out in early 2025. |

Do we know how much that’s going to cost? I'm sure it will be similarly priced to Bambu's AMS system. I'm really considering selling my XPlus3 to get the XPlus4. I didn't think I'd like the Bambu AMS, but it's awesome just loading up some filament and not having to mess with it loading/unloading manually like the my current QIDI, but QIDI had some advantages over the Bambu and that's why I bought it. Now if I can have a XPlus4 with AMS with all the features of Bambu plus some I'm definitely interested. |

View Quote Not sure about the new one but the X-Max 3 had an older version of Klipper. There are walkthroughs on updating it to the latest without bricking it. Not sure what I'd gain or lose (mostly lose) by doing it so I've left well enough alone. |
