I'd heard much of fucked up stuff from guys who have been over there My buddy told me this one ( he just came back a few weeks ago) He said a family there gave their son to another family when he was 10. The dad of new family gets to fuck him in the ass for 8 years then the kid gets to marry one of the Pedo's daughter. I know that likely isn't standard but would you put it past those guys? |

I've spent a lot of time all over the ME (civilian). I just got back from a two week trip to Bahrain, KSA, UAE, and Kuwait less than a week ago. That's like asking what Americans who claim to be Christian believe. You'll get everything from Billy Grahm to Westboro Baptist "church" to Obama. |

I was under the impression from arfcom .mil and from friends in real life, correct me if I'm wrong, that the boy love and goat love are fairly unique to rural Afghanistan and Pakistan, which until the formation of ISIS pretty much practiced the most fucked up version of Islam imaginable. |

During the invasion of Iraq part of my job was working cages (forward collection points). I can't tell you how many times I walked the perimeter of the cages at night and shined a light on the EPWs to check on them...only to to see things that can't be unseen.

| Was only over there twice, but have been to Turkey, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi. Pretty much fucked up everywhere I saw. Kuwait and Bahrain were less fucked up than most places in the ME. Ran into a lot of moral relativism, all in the attitude and why you're doing something, not what. Very much like people everywhere. Except they have more extremes than we usually run into, e.g. Public stoning, cutting off hands, chopping off heads, stuff like that. Saw them drinking booze, looking at porno, men hitting on each other. Pretty open too in a lot of places, so I figured a lot has to do with who you are and where you're at. There's a crap load of stuff in their society we'd consider immoral, illegal and pedo. Just another day for them. |

You're getting into what makes "Islam" such a varied thing... there is no central authority, and the religion spans many regions of greatly varying civility and education, so to speak. That really opens it up to where whatever the local dominant culture likes, the local Imam can find some mental gymnastics to make it OK. And if one Imam won't, well, you can probably find another who will, and hey, there you go. |
