So I'm getting cable for the first time in my adult life because there are some decent series out now that I would like to watch regularly (Walking Dead, Game of Thrones etc), but I don't want to have to pay an extra $10 a month for DVR service. Is it possible to just go out and buy a DVR myself and hook it up to the cable box to record shows? If so, where would I go to find one? The only ones I've seen advertsied seem to require a TiVo or some other subscription.
