Over the years I have bought used GI range mags around Ft. Dragg.  I just started building my first AR15 because I wanted to learn the ins and outs and have a better familiarization than just getting one off of the shelf.  I have found that my used mags have issues with staying in the magzine area without me holding them up.  I thought it was the build, but I adjusted and readjusted the spring tension and etc.  Turns out, you get what you pay for in mags and it is that they are worn on the side that they are supposed to catch and retain.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I found by bending them out a bit, I can get them to stay with some consistency.  Anyway, first build, loving the info on this site and hope to make my next build even better.  I'm using the PSA polymer lowers so we will see how they fan out.  Thanks for the help.

Bending mags to make them fit correctly? What springs are you adjusting and readjusting?
I do not know where to start. You need to add pics, OP. Also, my guess is either your mags belong in the trash
or your lower is out of spec.

I'll be at Bragg at the end of the month to fix it.

You just landed in the free play area of ARFCOM, it can get rough real fast. Better to post in a tech forum for better advice and less abuse. Read GD and lurk for a while to get the feel of it, you'll be better than your fellow 13'ers (Of which there have been many, and thus the nick.)

I am in the immediate area of Bragg if you need any help.  13er is someone who joined in 2013, a special bunch of people we hold dear to our hearts.

Think you can troubleshoot the issue with the 13ers Headspace and Timing?

There is nothing to adjust on the AR15 mag release. You screw it in until the threaded post is flush with the button(see pic below). If you are using a mil-spec receiver, and mil-spec parts for the mag release, then if the mags don't stay in the gun, the mags are bad. Buy some new mags, or try actually using a spring in the mag release.

OP, try posting your questions in the AR-15 section of the forum. Shenanigans aren't allowed over there so you'll get straight answers.

Now, back to the shenanigans...
