Ok,if you were chasin some people, and when you caught up with them a guy was standing there with a SAW firing off rounds at you, would you park the car right there and get out to shoot at him with your pistol or would you get the hell outta Dodge ?

Park around the corner and take him out.

Since I do not know what your talking about...I'll just hope I get the generic question correct.

The only obvious answer is to get both.

I don't think you'd have much time to react.

by the way, Ronin is one of the all time greatest movies of all time, ever.

Why the hell would you start an ambush with pistols?  Wouldn't you go to the beltfed first, with assorted heavy weapons fire from multiple angles, and all at once?  I didn't get that movie... it tried to make DeNiro look like a real spook/operator, even with the little whiteboard demo with Sean Bean about guys getting caught in a crossfire, but then he goes on to set up one of the lamest ambushes ever caught on film.  My mom is more tactical than that.  Sheesh.

Well,I'm specifically talking about when they finally caught the guy with the case at the end of the car chase..

As they were liberating it from him,DeNiro's wielding this SAW waiting for the guy with the case's friends.

When they roll up,he's behind a wall friring at them with belt-fed machinegun...they park right there under fire, and four guys jump outta the car to fire on him with pistols

Don't get me wrong,it's a great movie,but that's kind of a WTF moment.

Gunbert,if you are referring to the initial attack at the stoplight,I believe it was their intention to isolate the guy with the case down the road in a quiet area, rather than getting everything done there at the intersection...cept the guy in the Audi fucked up and didn't get the guy off the road.

keep the car moving, dump the passengers, flank him, get the car and run SAW man over while the pistol guys cap the SAW man's a**

answer to your question: no, move

Besides the silly "I'm cooler than you are" dialog,

Why did DeNiro start the ambush hiding right in front of their chase car? One shot to a tire and the chase is over!

Why did they set it up so Jean Reno had to cross the street under fire? And armed with only a pistol?!

Why didn't they block the exit route? That would have made things easier.

Why did the technical expert keep his cell phone when he knew that was how they were tracking the target in the first place??

If DeNiro was there to kill Seamus, why didn't he kill him once they found him waiting for the package to arrive by mail?

Of course, the french gun runners were no better with their ambush. They stood to only get some of the money, and lose half the guns!

Ronin had decent gunfights, and stands as the prototype of modern car chase movies. But it's not a great flick. With a lil' more mature script, ie; less contrived scenes and dialog, it would'a been something special.

So what's in the case?

The gun Al Pachino used in the movie Heat?

Ronin was a decent movie, but it left much to be desired in several areas. The ambush was a clusterfuck, as was the team selection. You would think that they would screen out the posers before the job started.

All the flaws said so far are spot on, but I still love it. Compared to most action movies it's oscar worthy.

Didn't he begin the ambush with an M79 blooper and follow it up with the Sig551/2 or am I thinking of a differant shootout scene from the same movie?

EDIT: Besides, there are bigger fish to fry.  Teflon coated 9mm ball ammo that pierces a level II concealment vest.
