I'm designing a deck for my house. It will be about 10' high and 30' long.
My house has a sunroom on the back creating an "L" shaped house. My question - would you put a ledger board on the sunroom as well, creating an "L" shaped ledger board, or would you just run a ledger board along the back of the house and basically pretend that the sunroom isn't there. Thanks for input! |
| I'd leave a gap between the wall and my first joist, parallel to that wall, and run the deck boards long. A ledger would only serve to attach you deck boards (and help stabilize the deck in that direction, but stiffening the deck can be accomplished in other ways). Personally, I want as few attachment points to the house as possible, to limit paths for water intrusion. |
