Google: espresso ristretto. Drinking it any other style is a waste of coffee beans, IMHO. That said, I have no idea if your machine can do this automatically, but if not then simply pull the cup out of the stream of coffee several seconds before it finishes. Use a stopwatch app and lots of trial/error. Espresso is best within 25-30 seconds of brewing. After that it starts to lose it's aromatic flavors VERY fast. A good espresso shot should be slightly sweet with almost no bitterness, and you shouldn't have to add ANYTHING to it in order to enjoy. Good luck! Done properly, espresso is the nectar of the gods! |

However you like. Espresso is the base of all those fancy drinks like cappuccinos, lattes, mochas, macchiatos, etc. You can also add hot water to make an Americano or drink it straight up. Or you could just have regular coffee. Whatever. Just wondering if anyone drinks it straight. I always see it served that way in TV shows. Just curious if people actually drink just espresso. |

Awesome. I will have to give this a try. Thanks. |

Espresso is expressly (pun of sorts) brewed to concentrate the coffee flavors and primarily meant to be quickly consumed as is (no sugar/cream).
One of the special features of a good espresso is le crema : lighter colored "foam" at the top of the shot which, or so I was taught by my carabinieri paracadutisti comrades, is meant to be consumed as much as is possible by itself by sipping it off the surface of the shot. |

You sure can and plenty do. I personally prefer regular coffee or, if I'm having an espresso drink caf? cubano, but to each their own. Try it, see if you like it. |
